KARGIL: Bodh Kharboo Archery Club lifted the NYK Archery Cup 2018 by defeating Kundik Muslim and Buddhist Archery Club in both Boys and Girls Category. The Tournament was organised by Nehru Yuva Kendera Kargil in collaboration with Art and Cultural Organisation Bodh Kharboo Kargil Ladakh and six Archery teams participated in the tournament.

This is for the first time that Archery Tournament was organised for Girls Also which was appreciated by the Villagers at Large. LAHDC Kargil Councillor   Khangral Haji Md Qasim  was the Chief Guest of the occasion and Sonam Tsering Lambardar Bodh Kharboo was the guest of Honour and Ex Councillor Tsering Smanla was special guest.

Praising the Role of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan Kargil in uplifting the youths and their overall development, Haji Qasim told that we have ample talent in our youths to compete at National and International Level in games like Archery and Ice Hockey which should be nourished and encouraged by organizing such events. He also Appriciated the particoation fo Youths both Girl and Boys despite of bone chilling cold temperature and thanked Mrs. Tajamul Aara District Codinater Leh and Kargil for organizing such programme in villages like Kundik.

Earlier welcoming the guests, players and the general public, Cultural Activist and Director Art and  Culture  Organization Bodh Kharboo Kargil Ladakh Mr  Tsewang Rigzin  said that the NYK Kargil is always providing platform to the youths of Kargil to show case  their creative talent. He further said that this programme is a part of such endeavours and also assured the youth's in future more activities will be conducted by NYK Kargil and his Organization. After the match, Chief Guest and Guest of honour distributed   prizes to the winners and Runners Up Teams, man of the match and man of the series.

  • Taekwondo Helps in Building Overall Personality of Players: Shashtri 

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo Association headed by Shri. D.N Pangotra today successfully conducted a belt promotion test at Brahman Saba, Parade Jammu for the athletes of taekwondo. More than 50 athletes took part in the Belt Promotion Test which has paved way for some new budding and Upcoming Taekwondo Players to move forward and excel in the field.

The soul motive of conducting the belt promotion test was just to empower youth and female athletes of Jammu District, as sports helps in overall personality development of a Player and when it comes to Taekwondo we mainly focus on the integrity and discipline. The Jammu and Kashmir taekwondo association which is affiliated with Taekwondo Federation of India is the only association of state which is recognised by state Sports Council.

The promotion test was conducted under the super vision of Mr Zaheer Abbas Khan (international player/ Treasurer JKTA). Mr. Subhash Shashtri (President MAjdoor Association Jammu) was the Chief Guest on this occasion and Mr. Atul Pangotra (State Awardee/ Referee Chairman TFI) and Mr. Anuj Sharma (org sec. JKTA) were special Guest accompanied by manager Brahman Sabah Mr. Romesh Sharma and Mr. Nisar Hussain (vice president JKTA). The Chief Guest Told that Taekwondo which helps a player to develop its overall personality should be prioritized as professional sports and players from Jammu will make their name at national and international level like Atul Pangotra.

  • JK Police on forefront to provide opportunities for young talents of State: ADG Armed

JAMMU: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, Arun Kumar Choudhary (IPS), declared the Inter- Battalion Sports Meet-2018 open at Gulshan Ground here today. Approximately 900 Men/Women of 28 Battalions of J&K Armed/IRP Police are participating in the five days long sports event being held at four different venues. The opening ceremony was attended by Shri Danesh Rana, IGP Armed/IRP Jammu Zone, Shri Surrinder Gupta, Director SSG, Shri Anand Jain, IGP Headquarters, Shri Rafiq-ul-Hassan, DIG AP Jammu besides retired and senior police officers, civil officers and a large number of spectators also witnessed the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, ADGP Armed complemented the Organising Committee for holding the meet. He said that J&K Police is always on the forefront to provide the opportunities for the young talents of this state by organizing a number of sports activities at district, range, zonal and state level under Civic Action Programme.

While highlighting the aims and objectives of sports meet, ADGP said that armed police is organizing Inter Battalion Sports Meet to provide opportunity to outstanding players of different battalions to show their talent and added that outstanding performers will get an opportunity to make their place in Central Sports Team who in future will be representing the department at State and national level.  He said that players of Jammu and Kashmir police have won prestigious medals at national and international levels saying that Surya Bhano Partap  Singh and Kuldeep Handoo are the recent International medal winners.  

Earlier, in his welcome speech IGP Armed Jammu welcomed all the participants. He also thanked retired senior police officers for gracing the occasion. He said that in the sports meet the men players and teams will be participating in Athletic, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Handball, Weightlifting, Kabaddi , Shooting Judo, Hockey, Wushu, Tug-of-War, Volleyball, Wrestling and women teams and players will be participating  in  Archery, Athletic, Basketball, Boxing, Football, Handball, Weightlifting, Kabaddi, Shooting, Tug-of-War, Volleyball and Wrestling and added that GOs will be participating in Badminton, Table Tennis,  Lawn Tennis, Shooting.

DIG Armed Jammu in his thanks giving speech, thanked all the dignitaries for gracing the event. He also thanked media persons, spectators for their overwhelming response and said that Jammu and Kashmir police has been organizing different events throughout the year to channelize the energy of youth towards the positive direction.
