JAMMU: The Employment Information cum Advisory Bureau (EIAB), Department of Lifelong Learning (DLL), University of Jammu, organized a career counselling workshop titled "Entrepreneurship Development and Career Opportunities after Graduation" for the students of Government Degree College, Kunjwani. This initiative is part of the vision of Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, to enhance the employability skills of youth and focus on essential skill development.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director, DLL, University of Jammu, and Dr. Manisha Kohli, Principal, Government Degree College, Kunjwani. In her inaugural address, Dr. Manisha Kohli highlighted the importance of career counselling in helping individuals make informed career choices, leading to greater satisfaction and success in life. She emphasized that entrepreneurship development programs create employment opportunities, ultimately raising the standard of living. She commended the Department of Lifelong Learning for organizing such workshops for the students.
Dr. Priyanka Sharma, Director DLL, University of Jammu, underscored the role of Entrepreneurship Development Programs in stimulating economic growth by empowering individuals to start their own ventures, which in turn generates employment. She also noted that career counselling helps students explore various career paths and understand job market demands.
The resource persons for the workshop were Dr. Zahid Ali Dar, Project Manager, JKEDI, and Dr. Harleen Kour, Senior Assistant Professor, Department of Commerce, University of Jammu. Dr. Zahid Ali Dar presented insights on entrepreneurship growth and competitiveness, providing detailed information on startups and the various schemes available for aspiring entrepreneurs. Dr. Harleen Kour, in her presentation, elaborated on the significance of career counselling and highlighted new and emerging career opportunities for graduates.
The workshop, coordinated by Dr. Rewa Khajuria, Counsellor, EIAB, DLL, was attended by 91 students. Dr. Arti Gupta was the Convenor of the Career Counselling Cell of the college, while Dr. Neeru conducted the proceedings, and Dr. Bhawna Koul delivered the formal vote of thanks.
