- Coalition Govt has many achievements: Prof Virender
JAMMU: BJP State Spokesperson, Prof. Virender Gupta, expressed surprise on the ignorance of the leaders of National Conference and State Congress about the fast development initiatives taken by the present PDP-BJP coalition and their forgetfulness about their failures and non performance in most of the fields. In a short time, merely of seven months, the present state government has many achievements to its credit including the efficiency restored in all the government departments.
Prof. Virender said that the previous NC-Congress combined government completely collapsed when the state was gripped by the unprecedented floods, it took about one week for the then Chief Minister to call even the State Cabinet Meeting, what to talk of gearing up state administration. He further added that most of the time bound projects remained incomplete and the good percentage of grants sanctioned by the Government of India remained unspent and lapsed.
He illustrated that during 2005-06 and 2007-08 an amount of Rs. 29.56 crore was sanctioned, out of which 23.74 crore was released for the development of 50 tourist villages, whereas work on 27 tourist villages got completed till date and the fate of remaining 23 is still hanging in balance. He mentioned that a huge economic package has been announced by the Prime-Minister, Narender Modi to boost the Tourism Sector, which also includes development of 50 new tourist villages in 5 years.
âAnother example of unfinished work pertains to the construction of New Building for Sri Pratap Singh Museum, which started in 2008 to be completed within two years, at the estimated cost of Rs. 65 croreâ, he cited and regretted that today even in 2015 the building is still incomplete.
Prof. Virender Gupta also added that a good amount of money sanctioned to LAWDA by the Government of India has gone down the drains. The officers working under the LAWADA project in collusion with law breakers, facilitated illegal constructions along the Dal Lake and good amount of the money has been siphoned by the officers, as such the High Court directed the State Vigilance Organization for registering the case against the officers involved under J&K Prevention of Corruption Act and RPC.
Prof. Virender advised the much vocal leaders of NC and Congress that those living in glass houses should not dare to throw stones on others pacca houses and must appreciate the good work of others, as it is the symbol of healthy politics in a democracy.
