UDHAMPUR:  Minister for Cooperatives, Mr Chering Dorjey visited Tikri and participated in the function organized by Cooperative Department Udhampur at  Sainik Cooperative Public High  School, Tikri, here today. Minister of State for Finance, Mr. Pawan Kumar Gupta was also present on the occasion. While speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that there is a need to change the mindset of unemployed youth so that they would actively participate and keep themselves involved in the profitable business ventures. He added that time has come to revive the cooperative movement in order to provide employment to the unemployed youths, thereby raising their economic standards of living.

Mr. Dorjey exhorted upon empowering unemployed youths by giving them skill enhancement training so that they become self employed. He stressed upon them to strengthen the cooperative movement in the district as well as state in order  to boost the economy. The Minister added that the week-long celebrations help in disseminating the cooperative messages to a large number of people adding that the cooperative model is based on a strong rural base where cooperatives are strengthening the rural economy, and providing a strong base for production of goods based on local technologies. 

Mr. Pawan Gupta also stressed upon the people to come forward and participate in strengthening the Cooperative movement  in the district by joining it, in order to boost  the economy and become self dependent. He also spoke on the role of various Cooperative societies in the overall development and instructed Dy Registrar to have area specific approach regarding establishment of new Cooperative units in the district. He further added that there is an urgent need to strengthen the Cooperative movement in the district and stressed upon skill enhancement training programmes for unemployed youths in order to make them skilled.

Registrar Cooperatives also emphasized that the theme of the week should be translated into action so that Cooperative movement would flourish in the district as well as state. He informed that in district Udhampur, there are 59 Cooperative Societies registered under The J&K Cooperative Societies Act 1989 and all are functional in the district. A scintillating Cultural programme was also presented by the students of the Cooperative Sainik High school, which was highly appreciated by the audience. Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and Registrar Cooperative, Peerzada Mushtaq Ahmed were present on the occasion.
