RAJOURI: An awareness-cum-registration camp under the Prime Minister Surya Ghar-Muft Bijli Yojana was today organized by the Electric Division (ED) Rajouri, Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), in the lawns of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, Rajouri.

The camp aimed to inform residents about the scheme's benefits and facilitate on-the-spot registrations. The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana promotes rooftop solar panel installation, offering subsidies to households for affordable and sustainable energy solutions.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, while interacting with media persons, highlighted the transformative potential of the scheme. He urged residents to take advantage of the initiative, emphasizing its role in reducing electricity costs and promoting environmental sustainability.

“By installing rooftop solar panels under this scheme, residents can significantly cut down their electricity expenses while contributing to a greener environment. The administration is committed to ensuring that maximum households benefit from this opportunity,” the Deputy Commissioner said.

The event saw active participation from residents, with 70 registrations completed on the spot by Common Service Centre (CSC) operators and authorized vendors. Executive Engineer JPDCL, Mohd Rashid was also present and provided technical insights into the scheme's implementation.

The camp is part of the district administration's ongoing efforts to promote renewable energy adoption and enhance public awareness about government schemes aimed at improving the quality of life for citizens.
