JAMMU: A meeting of the Dogra Khatri Sabha was held today at its office at Pacca Danga, Jammu, under the chairmanship of Sh. Parmodh Kapahi, President, Dogra Khatri Sabha.
The meeting was attended, among others, by Sh. Inderjeet Sawhney, Sh. Raj Daluja, Dr. R.K. Suri, Sh. Subash Bhasin, Lal Chand Gandotra, Sanjay Pandoh, Kulbhushan Vohra, Romesh Bamba, Gourav Kapahi, Kuldeep, Vivek Gandotra, Rakesh Soni, Bhushan Abrol, Aditya Pandoh, Ajay Gandotra, Vivek Gandotra, Akash Suri , Vishal Malhotra and Sh. Deepak Kapahi.
The meeting began with the adoption of the minutes of the previous meeting, which were passed unanimously by the members present.
Several important decisions were taken during the meeting for the welfare and development of the Khatri community in Jammu:
1. Special Membership Drive: It was decided that a special membership drive would be launched to enrol Khatris of Jammu as life members of the Sabha at a subsidised fee of Rs. 1,000/-, with the aim of strengthening the organisation and bringing more community members under its fold.
2. Marriage Bureau: The Sabha resolved to establish a dedicated Marriage Bureau for the Khatri community. All Khatri families were requested to register their children with the bureau so as to facilitate suitable matrimonial alliances within the community.
3. Unity of Khatri Sabhas: It was decided that a meeting of all Khatri Sabhas would be convened, with an appeal to unite under a single common forum. This step is aimed at enabling collective and coordinated development activities for the benefit of the wider Khatri community.
4. Construction of Khatri Bhawan: The Sabha decided to identify and purchase a suitable piece of land for the construction of a Khatri Bhawan. All Khatri members of Jammu were requested to contribute generously towards this cause as per their capacity, so that the community may have a permanent institutional space of its own.
5. Diwali Milan Programme: It was also decided that a Diwali Milan programme would be organised this year as well, during which meritorious children of the community would be felicitated and rewarded for their achievements.
Speaking on the occasion, President Sh. Parmodh Kapahi urged all members of the Khatri community to actively participate in these initiatives and contribute towards the growth, unity and welfare of the Dogra Khatri Sabha.
