SRINAGAR: The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) senior leader, Peer Bilal has demanded direct train service from Srinagar to New Delhi, expressing dissatisfaction with the railway authorities' decision to shift another train to Katra for Kashmir-bound rail passengers. This demand is part of the DPAP's efforts to improve connectivity and infrastructure in Jammu and Kashmir, focusing on issues that affect the region and its people.
Interestingly, Indian Railways has already announced the launch of a new overnight train, the Vande Bharat, connecting New Delhi to Srinagar, starting January 26, 2025. This train will cover 800 kilometers in less than 13 hours, offering a faster and more comfortable travel experience.
Peer Bilal said, the direct train services is likely to resonate with the people of Jammu and Kashmir, who have been seeking better connectivity with the rest of the country. This will not only benefit tourists but also fruit growers and other people in the region.
