KUPWARA: The Department of Kashmiri Govt. Degree College (GDC) Kupwara in collaboration with College Seminar and Debates Committee organised the Mehfil-e-Mushaira programme, today.

The programme formally started with the recitation of the holy Qur'an followed by Naat. This was followed by the presentation of mementos to special guests Ghulam Rasool Dardpori, Bashir Mangwalpori and Principal.

The principal in his presidential address on the occasion said that the programme was meant not only to provide a platform to famous writers of the area but to promote Kashmiri language by developing literary taste among the students. He praised the writers present in the programme for being the real custodians and promoters of Kashmiri language.

Notable poets/writers of the district including Bashir Mangwalpori, Ghulam Rasool Mir Dardpori, Abdul Rashid Shaheen, Nazir-Ul Hassan Tabasum, Maqbool Fayeq, Bashir Tahir Lolabi, Ayoub Dilber Punzwa, Gulzar Jaffar, Muntazir Hussain and Sajid Sajad mesmerised the audience with their poetry. The programme ended with a vote of thanks.
