KISHTWAR: In a significant initiative aimed at the preservation and promotion of the region's rich religious and cultural heritage, MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar today performed the Bhumi Poojan for a comprehensive development project at the historic Sarthal Devi Mandir.
The project is being undertaken with financial assistance amounting to ₹4.35 crore sanctioned by the Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Jammu & Kashmir. The sanctioned amount shall be utilized for the construction of a multi-storey building along with various beautification and infrastructure development works within the temple complex aimed at enhancing facilities for devotees and improving the revered shrine.
MLA Shagun Parihar also informed on the occasion that ₹10 lakh had already been provided by her from Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for the development of the main entrance gate, improvement of approach roads and other allied infrastructure works within the temple premises to further facilitate pilgrims and visitors.
Speaking on the occasion, the Shagun Parihar underscored the importance of preserving and promoting the region's religious and cultural heritage, stating that the development of prominent shrines not only strengthens the cultural fabric of society but also contributes significantly towards promoting pilgrimage tourism and local economic activity.
Reiterating her commitment towards the development across Kishtwar constituency, she expressed confidence that the ongoing works at Sarthal Devi Mandir would greatly increase the experience of devotees visiting the shrine from across Jammu and Kashmir and other parts of the country.
Among those present on the occasion were Vice Chairman of Sarthal Devi Trust Shri Sanjeev Parihar, BJP District President Shri Ravi Parihar, BJP Block President Shri Ashish Rathore, Former District President of Sanatan Dharam Sabha Kishtwar Shri Surinder Sen, members of Seva Bharti, prominent citizens, local residents and a large number of devotees, who welcomed the initiative and appreciated the efforts being undertaken for the development of the sacred shrine.
