UDHAMPUR: A Special Lok Adalat for Matrimonial Cases was held today across district Udhampur under the chairmanship of Kalpana Revo, Principal District & Sessions Judge/Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Udhampur.

The Special Lok Adalat was organized with the objective of facilitating the amicable settlement of matrimonial disputes through mutual consent and conciliation, thereby reducing the burden of prolonged litigation and promoting speedy, cost-effective justice.

A total of Nine (09) benches, comprising Judicial Officers, Senior Advocates and Panel Lawyers were constituted across district Udhampur to hear and resolve cases through compromise and settlement. The benches made concerted efforts to encourage dialogue between the parties and achieve mutually acceptable resolutions. During the proceedings, 54 matrimonial cases were taken up, out of which 09 cases were successfully settled.

In addition to the District Headquarters, similar Special Lok Adalats were also conducted at the Tehsil Legal Services Committees (TLSCs) of Ramnagar, Majalta and Chenani, ensuring wider access to alternative dispute resolution mechanisms and extending the benefits of speedy and amicable justice to litigants across different parts of the district.

The successful conduct of the Special Lok Adalat reflects the continued commitment of the District Legal Services Authority Udhampur towards promoting peaceful dispute resolution, reducing pendency of cases and making justice more accessible to the public.
