JAMMU: BJP Jammu & Kashmir State Secretary Pawan Sharma has strongly condemned the alleged insult to Sanatan during the opposition's protest outside Parliament, calling it a direct affront to the faith, culture, and civilizational heritage of millions of Indians.
Pawan Sharma stated that while democratic dissent is a constitutional right, no political party has the moral or democratic authority to insult Sanatan Dharma or mock the deeply held beliefs of the people of India in the name of political protest. He said that the opposition has once again exposed its complete disregard for India's cultural roots and the sentiments of millions of devotees.
He asserted that Sanatan is not merely a religion but the timeless civilizational foundation of Bharat, representing values of truth, duty, compassion, and coexistence. Any attempt to ridicule or demean it is an attack on India's identity and heritage.
Pawan Sharma said it is deeply unfortunate that instead of engaging in meaningful debate on issues concerning the nation, the opposition has chosen the path of provocation and disrespect. Such actions are irresponsible, divisive, and unworthy of parties that claim to uphold constitutional values and democratic traditions.
He demanded that every opposition party and leader associated with this act issue an unconditional public apology to the people of India without delay. Silence or attempts to justify such conduct would only reinforce the perception that the opposition has become increasingly disconnected from the faith and cultural values of the nation.
Pawan Sharma further said that repeated attempts to demean Sanatan for political mileage will never be accepted by the people of India. Those who seek votes while simultaneously insulting the country's civilizational ethos cannot expect the trust and respect of the nation.
He called upon all political parties to uphold the dignity of Parliament, respect the religious beliefs of every citizen, and refrain from exploiting matters of faith for partisan politics.
"The people of India expect responsible leadership, not theatrics that offend the nation's spiritual and cultural heritage. The entire opposition must unequivocally apologise to the country for this disgraceful act," Pawan Sharma concluded.
