JAMMU: Chairman District Development Council Jammu, Bharat Bhushan today chaired a meeting to review the physical and financial progress of developmental works taken up under the District Capex Budget 2025–26. The meeting was attended by MLAs, DDC Members, Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh, Chief Planning Officer, Ajaypal Singh besides sectoral officers.

During the meeting, the Chairman took a detailed sector-wise and department-wise review of the works. He directed the officers to expedite execution and ensure targets are achieved within stipulated timelines. “The departments do not hold funds and should ensure execution on the ground immediately,” he emphasized.

Reviewing the status of works, the Chairman stressed the completion of spill-over works on priority. Detailed discussion was held on the issue of unutilized tender savings. The Chair directed the concerned departments to submit proposals for re-appropriation or utilization of these savings as per norms to prevent lapse of funds.

Reviewing the implementation of Aspirational Block and Panchayat Programmes, the Chairman impressed upon the officers to focus on improving key SDG indicators through targeted interventions. He further directed that quality standards must be strictly maintained, necessitating regular field inspections and third-party verification.

The DDC members and MLAs raised various issues regarding infrastructure, drinking water, power supply and health facilities. The Chairman directed the line departments to take time-bound action on these grievances and hold regular sub-district review meetings.

Concluding the meeting, the Chairman emphasised that lapses in implementation would be viewed seriously and accountability would be fixed for any delays. He directed officers to treat development works as a priority and submit regular progress reports.
