UDHAMPUR: As part of the Swachhta Pakhwada campaign, aimed at making Udhampur district free from "Single-Use Plastic" the District Administration conducted an anti-polythene drive in and around Town Hall and Gole Market area. The drive was supervised by Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai.
A team of officers headed by ADC Joginder Singh Jasrotia including Chief Executive Officer Municipality Vishal Sadotra and District Information Officer Rajinder Digra along with other officials of MC Udhampur carried the drive. The officers appealed to the public to refrain from using Single use plastic including polythene and urge them to adopt eco-friendly alternatives.
During the campaign, shopkeepers and the general public were made aware of the hazardous effects of polythene and other plastic products. Several Shopkeepers were Challaned Rs. 5700 and 27 Kg of Polythene carry bags were confiscated from shopkeepers and customers as part of the drive.
