In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

BHADERWAH: A District Level Mock Exercise was conducted today at Bhaderwah to evaluate disaster preparedness and response mechanism. The exercise was organized in coordination with   4RR, local PWD (R&B) Division and Municipal Committee, among others. The exercise was aimed at strengthening coordination between the civil administration and disaster response teams in handling emergencies efficiently.

The exercise commenced at the New Bus Stand and involved a simulated disaster scenario to test the readiness of the district’s emergency services. Representatives from the JDPPCL/PHE, Child Development Project, Fire and Emergency Services, and other vital departments participated actively in the drill. Special emphasis was laid on assessing communication, evacuation, and rescue operations during the mock disaster event. The practical aspects of handling various contingencies, including fire, medical emergencies, and structural collapses, were meticulously rehearsed.

The Tehsildar of Bhaderwah & Bhalla was overall in-charge of the event, working closely with the representative of the 13th BN NDRF, Sub Inspector Vinod Kumar, and ensuring seamless coordination during the mock drill. The event received praise for enhancing disaster management skills and raising awareness among local authorities about quick and effective response strategies in the face of potential disasters.

The Deputy Commissioner Doda, Harvinder Singh, supervised the exercise and appreciated the involvement of all departments. He emphasized the importance of such mock exercises in mitigating risks and saving lives during real emergencies. The press and media were also briefed about the outcomes of the event, and the Tehsil Information Officer Bhaderwah ensured widespread publicity of the event’s success.
