SHOPIAN: The Forest Rights Act (FRA) meeting was today convened by the Deputy Commissioner, (DC) Shopian, Mohammad Shahid Saleem Dar at Mini Secretariat, here.  The meeting discussed various aspects of the Forest Act's implementation and reviewed the status of claims, and mapped out measures to handle outstanding applications.

The DC emphasized the importance of a coordinated approach, directing departments to ensure proper verification of claims before submission to the District Level Committees (DLCs). He also advised setting a regular day for the DLC to review and decide on these claims.

The meeting highlighted the need to raise FRA awareness at the grassroots level. Officials were instructed to streamline record-keeping and put up the cases for approval in a time frame with taking all required measures for the claim disposal. ADDC, Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone; ADC, Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz; ACR, ACP, DPO and other concerned were present.
