SRINAGAR: Cracking a whip on illegal mining & transportation of minerals, Police have seized 4 vehicles and arrested 4 persons in Awantipora. A Police party headed by SHO Police Station Awantipora and Incharge Police Post Toll Plaza seized 4 vehicles & arrested 04 persons involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals in Awantipora areas.

The vehicles include Tippers bearing registration numbers JK13H-0797, JK13D-4847, JK13F-0197, JK02AX-4658. The arrested persons  have been identified as Nadeem Ahmad Dar son of Ab Hamid Dar resident of Barsoo, Zahoor Ahmad Rather son of Ab Ahad Rather resident of Lethpora, Amir Ashraf Dar son of Mohd Ashraf Dar resident of lethpora and Aabid Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Mandakpal.

Accordingly, cases vide FIR No.’s 161/2024 and 163/2024 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation have been initiated. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are appealed to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
