SRINAGAR: Cracking a whip on illegal mining & transportation of minerals, police have seized 8 vehicles and arrested 8 drivers in Baramulla. A Police party under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri, seized 8 vehicles (8 Tippers) & arrested their drivers involved in illegal extraction/ transportation of minerals at Chak Tapper, Faqirbagh & Pachar. They have been identified as Abid Ahmad Gojree son of Ab Rehman, Aqib Ahmad Gojree son of Gh Mohd, Javid Ahmad Malik son of Nazir Ahmad, Mohammad Afzal Lone son of Manzoor Ahmad, Abdul Hameed Dar son of Bashir Ahmad, Ghulam Qadir Dar son of Bashir Ahmad, all residents of Drangbal, Tanveer Ahmad Dar son of Gh Mohd & Javid Ahmad Dar son of Bashir Ahmad, both residents of Jalsheeri.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in PS Kreeri & PS Chandoosa and investigations have been initiated. Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are appealed to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
