JAMMU: Under the campaign for free and fair Election, Office of the Dean Student Welfare organised various activities in the University campus regarding the awareness of general assembly election in J&K among students, under these activities one of the activity “Vote for Sure” campaign was organised today in various Departments of  the  University , led by the Nodal Officer, SVEEP  Dr. Ashwani Kumar (Deptt of CRCC) and Campus Ambassador Abhigya Langeh (Deptt of NSS).

The awareness drive emphasized the profound importance of elections, voting and the crucial role of youth in shaping the future of democracy. This initiative was designed not only to inform the general public about the significance of their vote but also to inspire young people to actively participate in the democratic process. They encouraged the voters to access the applications developed for the smooth running of the elections including Know Your Candidate (KYC), Voter Helpline app and Cvigil.

This awareness drive aims to combat this by highlighting the importance of youth participation in voting. By educating young people about their voting rights and the process, they can contribute to shaping policies that affect their future. The drive also addresses common barriers to voting, such as lack of identification or access to polling places. The collaboration between scholars, campus officials, and student ambassadors in organizing this awareness drive reflects a multidisciplinary approach to civic education, fostering an informed and active citizenry.

The team included Vivek Sharma and Rohit (Deptt of NSS), Mridul Sharma (Deptt of English), Shilpa (Deptt of Zoology), Naresh Kumar and Narotam (Deptt of CRCC) and Amanpreet (Deptt of Hindi).
