JAMMU: The Department of Educational Studies, Central University of Jammu, organized a one-day workshop on Career Guidance at KendriyaVidyalaya, Rahya District: Samba, under the guidance of  Prof. Ritu Bakshi. The workshop was conducted for students of Classes IX and X with the objective of enabling them to make informed academic and career choices.

The workshop was collaboratively conducted by research scholars along with M.Ed. Semester II and B.A. B.Ed. 8th semester students, who are currently pursuing a course in Guidance and Counselling. Their coordinated efforts ensured an engaging, interactive, and student-centered learning environment. As part of the workshop, a Vocational Interest Inventory was administered to help students identify their interests and aptitudes.

Based on their responses, participants were provided meaningful insights into potential career pathways. The facilitators also engaged students in interactive discussions, introducing them to a wide range of career options aligned with their individual interests and abilities. Additionally, students were informed about various upcoming examinations and academic opportunities, encouraging them to begin early preparation and plan their future systematically.

As a follow-up initiative, the M.Ed. and B.A. B.Ed. students adopted the participating school students to provide on-going mentorship and guidance. Students were encouraged to seek support whenever needed, ensuring continuity in academic and career counselling. The workshop proved to be a significant initiative in fostering awareness, building confidence, and empowering students to explore diverse and suitable career pathways.
