SRINAGAR: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, has stressed the need for a Joint Recce of the inaugural venue and marathon route to identify and address gaps in preparations for the successful conduct of the 3rd Edition of the Kashmir Marathon.

Chairing a meeting to review the arrangements, the Divisional Commissioner called for close coordination among all concerned departments to ensure that the necessary facilities and logistical arrangements are put in place well in advance of the event.

Garg directed the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department to fill potholes along the marathon route and ensure proper levelling of the road surface. The Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department was instructed to repair leaking water pipelines.

The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) was directed to deploy an adequate number of mobile toilet vehicles at the inaugural venue and ensure the availability of sweeper buses to ferry participants who face issues during Marathon.

Emphasising the need for smooth movement of participants and the general public, the Divisional Commissioner called for a comprehensive traffic management plan and directed the concerned authorities to publish the marathon route plan in advance for public information.

To enhance the visual appeal of the event, the Floriculture Department was asked to decorate the stage, while the SMC was directed to beautify the road medians along the route.

The Divisional Commissioner also stressed the importance of comprehensive security arrangements and directed that participants arrive at the venue by 4 PM on the day of the event.
