BARAMULLA: The Sheep Husbandry Department, Baramulla today organized animal health camps at high alpine pasture Churkhudan and adjacent Bahaks, catering to the veterinary healthcare needs of local pastoralist viz., Chopans, Bakarwals, and Gujjars rearing livestock on alpine meadows such as Churkhudan, Anganpathri, Chormargi etc.

Dr. Showkat Ahanger, District Sheep Husbandry Officer Baramulla, while welcoming the participants, assured every possible support & hand-holding of youth interested in setting up their own ventures in sheep farming. He also engaged in one-on-one interaction with the participants  listening to their grievance and assured  timely redressal of all genuine  demands.

Dr.Umar Wani, SDO Uri said that the department is making every effort to provide quality service for the benefit of the livestock farming community. Dr. Tanveer Ahmad, VAS Boniyar educated participants regarding prevention of common parasitic diseases and importance of judicious use of anthelmintics and timely vaccination.

The camp featured the distribution of free medicine under the NADCP program to the participants. The herders expressed their gratitude to the Sheep Husbandry Department Baramulla for conducting camps in such challenging terrains and acknowledged the department's valuable services. The event demonstrated the department's commitment to supporting livestock rearers in remote areas and promoting the overall health and well-being of their animals.
