JAMMU: Central Monitor, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, Col. P.V.S. Sidhu, chaired a high-level review meeting here at the Directorate of Animal Husbandry Talab Tillo to assess the implementation and progress of Central Sector and Centrally Sponsored Schemes namely Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), National Livestock Mission (NLM), National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) and Livestock Health and Disease Control Programme (LH&DCP) in Jammu district.

The meeting was attended by Director Animal Husbandry Jammu Dr. Yugal Kishor, besides senior officers, scheme nodal officers and technical heads. The review meeting was preceded by extensive field inspections conducted across key veterinary establishments and facilities in Jammu district from 22nd to 28th October.

The Central Monitor, along with the departmental technical teams, inspected the Frozen Semen Station at Hakkal to evaluate laboratory operations, quality assurance standards, biosecurity protocols, liquid nitrogen cold-chain integrity and cleanliness and management of animal sheds. The team also carried out on-ground assessments of the operational readiness of Mobile Veterinary Units (MVUs)—including toll-free call-centre helpline ‘1962’ integration and emergency drug logistics besides day-to-day healthcare delivery, outpatient services and medicine inventories at various peripheral veterinary centres in the districts.

Taking detailed stock of both field findings and administrative milestones during the review session, the Central Monitor evaluated major Central programmes with special focus on doorstep delivery, digital tracking and scheme saturation. While appreciating the department's proactive outreach and field machinery, Col. Sidhu placed on record critical observations aimed at further strengthening field implementation, specifically emphasizing streamlined route scheduling for MVUs, rigorous bio-surveillance protocols and timely restocking of peripheral centres.

Director Animal Husbandry Jammu assured that all constructive recommendations about the field inspections would be implemented swiftly to upgrade livestock healthcare and service delivery across the region. Senior officers of the Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments Jammu including Joint Directors and Deputy Directors were also present in the meeting.
