JAMMU: The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) of the Central University of Jammu successfully concluded the first day of CU Jammu Hackathon 2026 in collaboration with CUJ SITE Council, a two-day innovation event being organized at the SDCSS (ISRO Building) premises of the university campus.

On the opening day, the Hackathon witnessed participation from 31 teams, with all teams presenting their innovative ideas and project prototypes before the jury panel. The participants demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and explained their concepts with clarity and confidence.

The event was formally inaugurated by Prof. Sanjeev Jain, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Jammu, who visited the Hackathon venue, interacted with the participants, and reviewed the projects. His presence encouraged the students and added significance to the event.

Several innovative ideas were showcased during the day. Among the many projects presented, two particularly notable projects included an acoustic-based system for detecting microplastics in water samples, and a Structural Health Monitoring system aimed at predicting the lifespan and safety of buildings and bridges.

The Hackathon is being overseen by Prof. Rakesh Kumar Jha, In-charge CEO, SITEC, and President, Institute Innovation Council, while Dr. Vinita Sharma, Convenor, IIC, is coordinating the event. The organizing team is supported by IIC staff member Mr. Naveen Kumar and student volunteers, ensuring the smooth execution of the programme.
