BHADERWAH: The Child Helpline Desk Bhaderwah, functioning under Mission Vatsalya of the Department of Social Welfare, conducted an awareness campaign at various locations across Bhaderwah against child labour and to promote Child Helpline 1098.

The campaign sensitised the public to the harmful effects of child labour, the importance of safeguarding children's rights and the need to ensure education, care and protection for every child. It aimed to encourage collective responsibility among citizens to prevent child exploitation and create a safe environment for children.

The drive also publicised Child Helpline 1098, a toll-free 24Ɨ7 service for children in distress and those requiring care and protection. The public was urged to report cases of child labour, abuse, exploitation or any situation that puts a child's safety and well-being at risk.

The Child Helpline Desk said child labour deprives children of their childhood, education and opportunities for a better future, and that collective efforts by parents, teachers, community members and stakeholders concerned are essential to identify vulnerable children and ensure their protection.
