KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pankaj Kumar Sharma today inaugurated and declared open the Inter-Zonal District Level Tournament for U/19 Boys & Girls here at the historic Chowgan Ground . The sports event is being organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports, marking a vibrant celebration of youth talent across multiple disciplines.

The grand opening ceremony was also attended by District Youth Services & Sports Officer Jaffer Haider Sheikh, Zonal Physical Education Officers (ZPEOs), sports staff, students, athletes and other concerned remained present.

Addressing the energetic gathering, the DC extended his best wishes to all the participating athletes. He emphasized the importance of sports in shaping the personality and imbibing discipline among young individuals. He also praised the Department of Youth Services & Sports for offering a vibrant platform for budding talent.

He encouraged the student-athletes to showcase true sportsmanship, determination, and team spirit throughout the competition. The DYSSO, in his address, appreciated the unwavering support of the district administration and commended the enthusiasm and commitment of both student-athletes and sports staff.

He highlighted that such tournaments are not only vital for competitive exposure but also crucial for talent identification at higher levels. The tournament features a wide range of sporting events for both boys and girls, including Volleyball, Kabaddi, and Kho-Kho, with participants drawn from various zones across the district.

Matches are being conducted under the guidance of DYSSO Kishtwar  Jaffer Haider Sheikh and the close supervision of ZPEOs and trained sports officials, ensuring fairness, discipline, and enthusiastic participation.
