KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting in the Conference Hall of DC Office Complex to review the preparedness for the upcoming 100-day intensive campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan.
At the outset, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of a coordinated and result-oriented approach by all departments to make the campaign effective at the grassroots level. He directed the concerned officers to plan and implement a comprehensive schedule of activities for the 100-day period with a special focus on awareness, prevention and rehabilitation.
It was informed that a series of activities including awareness drives, seminars, rallies, counselling sessions and community outreach programmes shall be organised across the district involving students, youth, civil society organisations and the general public.
The Deputy Commissioner highlighted that a major āPad Yatraā would be organised on April 13, 2026 from Sports Stadium Kathua to GDC Men to mobilize public participation and spread awareness against drug abuse. He stressed on ensuring maximum participation of students, NSS, NCC volunteers and youth groups in the event.
The Deputy Commissioner called for making the campaign a mass movement (Jan Andolan) with active involvement of all sections of society. He underlined the need for intensified drives against drug trafficking and urged departments to work in close coordination to dismantle the network of drug abuse.
The DC further directed all departments to prepare and submit a detailed activity calendar for the 100-day campaign and ensure its strict implementation. He also stressed on incorporating feedback mechanisms and encouraging the public to report cases related to drug abuse.
ADDC Surinder Mohan Sharma, PO ICDS Mohammed Syed, ADC Vishavjeet Singh, ASP Sunil Kumar Kesar, CPO Ranjeet Thakur and other concerned officers were also present.
