  • Stresses expediting of ongoing Developmental works to address Infrastructure gaps

SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Charandeep Singh, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting of the Health and Medical Education Department to assess and streamline healthcare delivery across the district, with a focus on infrastructure, manpower and patient-centric services.

Emphasizing a proactive, compassionate and gap-free approach to public healthcare, the DC called for strengthening infrastructure, optimizing manpower and ensuring seamless service delivery to meet the medical needs of every citizen without unnecessary delays.

The DC directed officials to expedite all ongoing developmental works and accelerate projects aimed at addressing infrastructure gaps across the district. He stressed that essential diagnostic facilities, including X-ray, CT scan, MRI and ultrasound services at the District Hospital, must remain fully functional at all times, without any bottlenecks.

The progress of New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) buildings was also reviewed to ensure their timely completion, structural readiness and provision of modern amenities. Emphasizing round-the-clock availability of healthcare services, the DC underscored the need for establishing doctors' quarters across the district.

He further directed the department to ensure the availability of surgeons, cardiologists and emergency specialists to facilitate life-saving procedures locally and minimize referrals to hospitals outside the district.

The DC called upon health officials to discharge their duties with utmost dedication and ensure accessibility, responsiveness and effective coordination between healthcare providers and the public.

The performance and role of ASHA workers, healthcare staff and ground-level functionaries were also reviewed to strengthen grassroots outreach and ensure continuous support to patients.

Reiterating the administration's commitment to quality healthcare, the DC stressed that the approach must remain proactive, empathetic and accessible. He directed officials to eliminate communication gaps between healthcare providers and the public and ensure that every citizen receives quality medical care without unnecessary delays or referrals.
