POONCH: District Development Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a Public Grievances Redressal Camp at Posshana, providing a platform to locals to put forth their issues, demands and concerns before the district administration.
SDM Surankote Farooq Khan; Deputy Director Employment Abdul Majid; Xen Jal Shakti Sajad Choudhary; Xen JPDCL Aftab Ahmed; Xen PMGSY, Xen PWD(R&B); AD fisheries, besides other concerned officers were present in the public Darbar.
During the camp, the residents put forth various demands pertaining to healthcare facilities, road connectivity and maintenance, water supply, power, development and maintenance of parks in Bufliaz, besides those related to basic amenities and local development.
The concerned officers present during the camp briefed the public on the issues presented by them and apprised of the status and action being taken on grievances pertaining to their respective departments.
The DDC listened to the grievances patiently and directed the concerned officers to note down each issue and take necessary action for their timely redressal. Several issues were resolved on the spot, while the DDC assured the public that all genuine grievances would be addressed within a stipulated timeline.
Interacting with the locals, the DDC informed them about various government schemes and welfare programmes aimed at promoting employment, entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods. He particularly encouraged the people to avail the schemes pertaining to Fisheries, Sheep Husbandry and other sectors envisaged under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP). He urged the locals to explore high income-generating activities such as mushroom cultivation, peanut cultivation, egg production and other viable livelihood activities to enhance household income and create employment opportunities.
The DDC also encouraged the locals to install solar panels and avail the subsidy benefits available under relevant government schemes. Later, the DDC inspected the road in Posshana Panchayat, where the work has been stalled due to a forest-related issue. After reviewing the matter, he directed the concerned BDO to take necessary steps for preparation of the DPR and submission of the case to the DC Office for further action.
