REASI: District Development Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today flagged off an Information, Education and Communication Campaign Van from the DC Office to generate awareness among rural populace about the upcoming Gram Sabha under the VB-G RAM G initiative.
The campaign aims to sensitise people about the scheme, participatory planning, employment generation, improved livelihoods and the role of Gram Sabhas in identifying local development priorities.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said the IEC van would spread awareness about the VB-GRAM-G employment scheme and the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan (VGPP). He informed that a Mahapanchayat will be organised in every Panchayat on October 2 to sensitise people about the scheme and the 375 permissible categories of works. He urged people to participate actively in the Mahapanchayats, visit their respective Gram Panchayats and put forward their genuine requirements so that the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plans are prepared in a participatory and demand-driven manner.
The DDC said the awareness campaign would also help villagers understand the permissible works under the scheme and enable Panchayats to identify development priorities based on the actual needs and aspirations of the local community.
Additional District Development Commissioner Krishna Lal, Chief Planning Officer Narinder Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Development Mukesh Sharma, Assistant Commissioner Panchayats, District Information Officer, Block Development Officers and other officers and officials were present on the occasion.
