BANDIPORA: Continuing the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, the District Administration Bandipora on Monday organised a series of awareness programmes across educational institutions and Panchayats in the district to sensitise students and the public about the harmful effects of drug abuse.

Expert talks, awareness sessions, rallies and pledge-taking ceremonies were conducted in several institutions including HS Achoora, PM SHRI HSS Shadipora, HSS Hajin, PM SHRI GHS Odina, GHS Nadihal, HS Panar, HS Jurniyal, GHSS Gadakhud, HSS Sumbal, GHS Kanzalwan, HSS Purana Tulail, HSS Budoab Tulail, and PM SHRI HSS Quilmuqam, among others.

During these programmes, resource persons highlighted the physical, psychological and social consequences of substance abuse, with a focus on key causes such as peer pressure, stress, and lack of awareness. Students were encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles, make informed decisions, and act as ambassadors against drug abuse in their communities.

At GHSS Gadakhud, awareness sessions on the role of AYUSH and yoga in preventing substance abuse were conducted, complemented by practical yoga demonstrations.

Anti-drug rallies were also organised, notably by HSS Hajin in collaboration with the Police Department, while wall paintings and IEC activities were carried out at institutions like HSS Hajin and Panchayat Ghar Sonerwani to spread awareness at the grassroots level.

Pledge-taking ceremonies reaffirming commitment to a drug-free society were held at multiple locations including HSS Sumbal and Laharwalpora. Interactive sessions and morning assembly talks by teachers and resource persons further reinforced awareness among students.

The programmes, conducted under the 100-day IEC campaign, witnessed active participation of students, teachers, and community members, reflecting a collective resolve to combat drug abuse and build a healthier, drug-free Bandipora.
