DODA: In continuation to the intensified efforts undertaken to prevent spread of dengue in the district, the Health Department conducted a special dengue control, sanitisation and awareness drive in various identified and adjoining areas of Doda town.
The special drive was aimed at strengthening preventive measures, reducing mosquito breeding sites and limiting the possibility of transmission of dengue in the affected and vulnerable localities. Health teams carried out sanitisation, source-reduction and awareness activities in areas where dengue cases have been reported, as well as in their surrounding locations.
The areas covered during the drive included Radhey Sham Mandir, Gattu Mohalla, Old Bus Stand, New Bus Stand, near GDC, Home Guard Line, Dak Bunglow area and Hamdanpur.
For effective implementation of the containment measures, three dedicated teams were deployed in the field. The teams conducted door-to-door awareness activities, sensitised residents about dengue prevention, identified potential mosquito breeding sites and undertook necessary source-reduction and sanitisation measures.
The field activities were carried out by Basharat Ali Mir (SHI), Liaqat Ali Zargar (JHI), Ashraf Hussain (JHI), Sudershan Singh (JHI) and Raj Dev (JHI), along with other field staff including Basic Health Workers (BHWs). The teams actively engaged with the local community and disseminated information regarding preventive measures, early identification of symptoms and the importance of seeking timely medical attention.
The drive was conducted under the guidance of Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vinod Sharma and under the supervision of District Malaria Officer Ilam ud Din. The field teams worked in close coordination to ensure timely intervention and strengthen dengue prevention and control measures at the community level.
The Health Department urged the public to extend full cooperation to the field teams and adopt preventive measures at the household and community level. Residents have been advised to avoid accumulation of stagnant water, keep water-storage containers properly covered, maintain cleanliness around their surroundings and immediately report suspected dengue symptoms to the nearest health facility.
The Department stressed that community participation, regular source reduction, personal protection and timely reporting are essential to break the mosquito breeding cycle and prevent further transmission of dengue in the district.
