JAMMU: Further strengthening its commitment to regional entrepreneurial development, the Indian Institute of Management Jammu, organized the third Entrepreneurship Awareness Program (EAP) under its five-program outreach series supported by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India.

As the third milestone in the five-part outreach series supported by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, the Akhnoor EAP reaffirms the Ministry’s proactive role in enabling entrepreneurship at the grassroots level and IIM Jammu’s institutional commitment to translating national MSME vision into actionable regional impact.

The Entrepreneurship Awareness Program is being implemented under the guidance and support of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, reflecting the Ministry’s continued commitment to promoting grassroots entrepreneurship, strengthening local enterprise ecosystems, and nurturing self-employment opportunities across emerging regions.

The program was hosted at Government Degree College Akhnoor, with enthusiastic participation from students and faculty of cluster institutions including Government Degree College, Jourian; Government Degree College, Paloura; Government Degree College, Sunderbani; and Government Degree College, Khour.

This initiative significantly expanded structured entrepreneurial exposure to students in the Akhnoor belt, reinforcing IIM Jammu’s efforts to decentralize startup awareness beyond major urban centers. The program delivered a comprehensive understanding of the entrepreneurial journey — from ideation to execution — aligned with national priorities for MSME-led growth.

Dr. Vivek Sharma, Chief Innovation Officer, IIM Jammu, led sessions on From Idea to Opportunity: Foundations of Business Ideation and Formalizing Your Venture: Business Structures & Registration Pathways. He emphasized systematic ideation, validation mechanisms, regulatory clarity, and strategic planning as the foundation for building sustainable ventures in the MSME ecosystem.

Addressing the financial fundamentals of entrepreneurship, Shri Rishi Gupta, a seasoned financial advisor, conducted a focused session on Financial Literacy for Entrepreneurs, equipping participants with practical insights into budgeting, funding avenues, financial discipline, and efficient capital management—key pillars for MSME success.

The importance of digital presence in modern enterprise development was highlighted by Shri Kannav Padha, who delivered an engaging session on Digital Growth Strategies: Marketing, Branding & Online Presence, underscoring how strong digital positioning and brand strategy are critical for scalable growth within today’s competitive MSME landscape.

The program was coordinated by the IIM Jammu Incubation Team. Present on the occasion were Mr. Kannav Padha, Manager – DST iTBI IIM Jammu; Druvi Sharma, Deputy Manager – DST iTBI IIM Jammu; and Anjali Goswami, Assistant Manager – DST iTBI IIM Jammu.

The remaining programs in the series will continue to deepen institutional partnerships and strengthen entrepreneurial engagement across diverse districts, further consolidating Jammu & Kashmir’s emerging startup ecosystem under the broader developmental framework of MSME-led inclusive growth.
