KULGAM: Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, J&K Police have arrested 02 drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police party led by SHO Police station Qazigund established a checkpoint at Wanpora near bridge. During checking one vehicle (Hyundai I20) bearing registration no JK01BA-6269 with two persons on board was intercepted. After search, officers were able to recover 13.8 gram of Heroin like contraband substance, one digital weighing machine and a silver foil from their possession in the said vehicle.

The persons have been identified as Towseef Ahmad Khan son of Tariq Ahmad Khan and Zaheen Fayaz Bhat son of Fayaz Ahmad Bhat both residents of Batmaloo, Srinagar were arrested on spot and vehicle used in commission of crime was seized. Accordingly, a Case FIR No. 178/2026 U/S 8/21, 29 of NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been set into motion.

Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug menace and urges general public to cooperate and share any information related to drug peddling or trafficking for the safety and well being of the society.
