PULWAMA: In continuation of its community outreach and youth engagement initiatives, J&K Police inaugurated Boys & Girls Basketball Tournaments at Sports Stadium Pulwama under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26.

The tournaments were formally inaugurated by SSP Pulwama Ms. Tanushree-IPS, who emphasized the importance of sports in promoting discipline, teamwork and a healthy lifestyle among youth. She encouraged the participating teams to exhibit true sportsmanship and make the best use of the platform provided under CAP.

A total of six teams in the Boys category and five teams in the Girls category, representing different areas of Pulwama district, are participating in the tournaments. The opening match in the Girls category was played between Solace International Basketball Club and Noor 11 Pulwama Basketball Club. In the Boys category, HR Bellers Basketball Club Pulwama locked horns with Hydrogen Army Basketball Club Pulwama.

The initiative aims to channelize the energy of youth towards constructive activities, strengthen police-public relations and promote a spirit of unity and positive competition. J&K Police remains committed to organizing such events for the welfare and empowerment of the youth.

In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

I will always remember Dr. Priya Ranjan not only as the Chairman of JK Monitor, but as a mentor, guide and elder brother whose kindness profoundly shaped my life and work. Write a tribute at In Loving Memory · Dr. Priya Ranjan

When he appointed me Editor-in-Chief of JK Monitor, he never treated me as an employee, but as a younger brother, offering warmth, trust, respect and invaluable guidance. I will always be grateful for his faith in me, his encouragement and the lessons he shared.

Dr. Ranjan was a rare and noble soul—humble, compassionate, intellectually brilliant and always willing to help others. A visionary thinker, he believed in using knowledge and abilities to make a meaningful difference. His influence lives on through the people he guided, the work he inspired and the countless lives he touched.

For me, he will always be the elder brother who believed in me and guided me with affection. I will cherish his kindness and lessons forever. May his soul rest in eternal peace. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten.

A Profound Loss: JK Monitor Mourns the Passing of Founding Chairman Dr. Priya Ranjan

We at JK Monitor are profoundly saddened by the sudden demise of our Founding Chairman, Dr. Priya Ranjan. IN LOVING MEMORY Dr Priya Ranjan

A brilliant mind who studied at Netarhat Residential School and graduated in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur before earning his PhD from the University of Maryland, Dr. Ranjan chose to return to India and dedicate his life to teaching, research and social good.

His pioneering work in networked systems, AI, robotics and biomedical applications—especially computer-vision tools for early detection of cancer and heart disease—reflected his deep belief that advanced technology must serve humanity.

For more than 15 years at JK Monitor, he remained a loyal friend, mentor and collaborator, marked by rare humility, intellectual integrity and quiet generosity. His passing leaves a void that cannot be filled. Priya, you will be deeply missed. Your life continues to remind us that knowledge finds its highest purpose in the service of others.
