BUDGAM: Continuing its efforts to promote positive youth engagement and strengthen police-public relations, J&K Police inaugurated a T20 Knock-out Cricket Tournament at Sheikh-ul-Alam Sports Stadium under the Civic Action Programme (CAP) 2025–26.

Eight teams from Sub-Division Charar-i-Shareef are participating in the tournament, providing a vibrant platform for young players to showcase their talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The initiative aims to channel the energy of youth towards constructive activities while fostering discipline, unity, and healthy competition.

The tournament was inaugurated by SDPO Charar-i-Shareef Owais Ahmad Wani, in the presence of the SHO Police Station Charar-i-Shareef and other officers. The officers interacted with the players and highlighted the importance of sports in building character, promoting physical fitness, and steering youth away from social evils such as drug abuse and crime. The inaugural match between ACC Charipora and Charar-i-Shareef XI drew enthusiastic local support and set a positive tone for the tournament.

J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to engaging youth through sports and community-oriented initiatives under CAP, particularly in rural and far-flung areas, to nurture confidence, leadership, and social responsibility among young individuals.
