JAMMU: In a significant initiative to promote self-employment and foster a culture of entrepreneurship among the youth, the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India, organised an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme (EAP) at Government ITI Surankote in District Poonch. The programme was conducted by the MSME–Development & Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO), Jammu, under the guidance of Joint Director Sh. A.K. Tamaria.

Held at the Conference Hall of Government ITI Surankote, the programme aimed to sensitise and motivate young aspirants about the vast opportunities available in the MSME sector and encourage them to explore self-employment as a viable and rewarding career path.

Addressing the gathering, Assistant Director MSME-DFO Jammu, Rajesh Kumar, underscored the pivotal role of the MSME sector in driving India’s economic growth and generating large-scale employment. He elaborated on the Ministry’s flagship schemes, highlighting initiatives related to skill development, credit facilitation, cluster development, and technology upgradation. Emphasising the importance of innovation and self-reliance, he urged participants to leverage government support systems to convert their ideas into sustainable business ventures that can contribute to local economic development.

The programme also witnessed insightful deliberations from officers of the District Industries Centre (DIC) Poonch, representatives from RSETI Rajouri, JKEDI, and officials from JK Bank. The speakers provided detailed guidance on available training programmes, financial assistance schemes, loan procedures, and institutional support mechanisms for budding entrepreneurs. The Principal and faculty members of Government ITI Surankote also extended their support and encouraged students to take advantage of such awareness initiatives.

An engaging interactive session formed a key highlight of the programme, where participants actively raised queries related to business registration, financial support, skill enhancement training, and enterprise establishment procedures. The resource persons addressed these concerns comprehensively, offering practical insights and clarifying doubts.

Around 80 participants attended the programme, reflecting strong enthusiasm and interest among local youth towards entrepreneurship and self-employment opportunities. The initiative was widely appreciated for equipping attendees with actionable knowledge and confidence to embark on entrepreneurial journeys.

The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Aabid Hussain, Young Professional, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, who expressed heartfelt gratitude to all dignitaries, speakers, and participants for their cooperation and active involvement in making the programme a success.
