ANANTNAG & KULGAM: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Police in Anantnag and Kulgam districts have arrested four drug peddlers in three separate operations and recovered contraband from their possession.
In the first operation, a police party from Police Station Bijbehara, during naka checking at Katriteng-Waghama Road, apprehended two persons identified as Ubaid Rashid Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar resident of Waghama, and Javaid Ahmad Parray son of Mohd Maqbool Parray resident of Jablipora. During their search, 4.49 grams of brown sugar was recovered from their possession. In this connection, FIR No. 259/2026 has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara, and investigation has been initiated.
In another operation, a police party from Police Station Anantnag, during routine checking near Batapora Bridge, apprehended Shahid Maqsood Khuroo son of Maqsood Ahmad resident of Guri Kharipora Anantnag. During search, Charas was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 303/2026 has been registered at Police Station Anantnag, and investigation has been set into motion.
Meanwhile, in Kulgam, Police arrested another drug peddler during dynamic naka checking in the jurisdiction of Police Station Devsar. At Sopat near Ziyarat Sharif Link Road, a dynamic naka party intercepted a suspicious person identified as Rouf Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar resident of Gund Tankipora. During search, a polythene bag containing 746 grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. In this connection, FIR No. 65/2026 has been registered at Police Station Devsar, and investigation has been set into motion.
