SOPORE: As part of the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, police in Sopore intensified its multi-pronged anti-drug campaign across Police District Sopore through a combination of awareness programmes, preventive measures and targeted enforcement actions aimed at dismantling the narcotics ecosystem.

Extensive awareness programmes were conducted in schools and public places across the district to sensitize students and citizens about the harmful effects of drug abuse, its legal consequences and the collective responsibility of society in building a drug-free future.

To prevent misuse of controlled substances and disrupt support networks facilitating drug trafficking, Police carried out inspections of medical shops, chemical stores and fertilizer outlets across various areas of the district.

As part of the enforcement strategy, Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs) were conducted at the residences of known drug peddlers to maintain pressure on narcotics networks, recover contraband and initiate legal action against those involved in drug trafficking. Moreover, destruction drives targeting wild cannabis were also carried out to eliminate potential sources of narcotics at the grassroots level.

Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse and stated that such coordinated drives will continue under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to target every link of the narcotics supply chain, from peddlers and suppliers to facilitators.
