SRINAGAR: Police in Budgam organized an awareness programme on three new criminal laws (NCLs) at Town Hall Budgam under the supervision of SSP Budgam Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS.

The programme was attended by DySP Headquarters Budgam Shri Saqib Ghani-JKPS, SHO PS Budgam, I/C PP Soibugh, DLSA Budgam, officers of Social Welfare & Rural Development Departments, students and general public of different areas of the district.

The initiative aimed to educate the general public, particularly students about enactment of new criminal laws, ensuring awareness and compliance with the updated legal framework. DySP Headquarters Budgam and I/C PP Soibugh explained the nuances of the new laws, clarifying their implications and stressing the importance of adherence to legal statutes for maintaining societal order.

The programme witnesses active participation from students and the general public who engaged in interactive discussions, questions and sought clarifications on the legal provisions presented. The new laws include provisions that ensure justice for the victims of crime and the society at large. Modernization of the investigation process through the use of technology has been included and the new laws also set timelines for trials. The participants appreciated the role of Police in organising such awareness programmes in the district.
