POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today chaired a meeting to finalize the action plan for the 100-day Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan in the district. He also convened a meeting with the civil society members, heads of religious organizations and representatives of NGOs.
The meeting was attended by officials from Health, Education, Social Welfare, Police, Youth Services & Sports and other departments. A detailed and coordinated strategy was deliberated upon to ensure effective implementation of the Abhiyan in the district.
A structured and result-oriented action plan was presented through a detailed PPT, outlining the calendar of awareness, outreach and enforcement activities to be carried out over the next three months. It was informed that as many as 76 events shall be organized under the campaign, covering schools, colleges, panchayats and urban areas to ensure maximum public engagement.
The Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of inter-departmental coordination and mission mode participation. He emphasized focus on awareness generation, community mobilization and behavioral change, particularly among the youth.
Director Employment and District Mentor Poonch Harvinder Singh joined the meeting virtually and appreciated the proactive approach of the district administration. He underscored the importance of continued coordination among departments and active community participation for the success of the Abhiyan.
Later, the DC chaired a meeting with religious heads and prominent citizens of the district, seeking their support in mobilizing community participation and strengthening the anti-drug campaign. He urged them to actively contribute towards making the campaign a success and sought their suggestions.
He emphasized the crucial role of religious leaders and respected members of society in spreading awareness and guiding the youth away from the menace of drug abuse. The religious heads and prominent citizens assured full cooperation to the district administration.
