In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

PULWAMA: The District Administration Pulwama today commemorated the 10th anniversary of the flagship ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign at the District Headquarters, here. The event featured a series of initiatives, including an oath-taking ceremony, launch of a signature campaign and vibrant cycle and motorcycle rallies.  A cycle rally led by girls and a motorcycle rally organized by the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) Pulwama were key highlights of the celebrations. These activities aimed to raise awareness about the objectives and accomplishments of the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative across the district.

Addressing the gathering, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pulwama emphasized the significant progress made under the campaign over the past decade. He highlighted various schemes implemented to promote gender equality and empower girls in the district. The ADC also applauded the remarkable achievements of girls in diverse fields and reiterated the importance of fostering gender equity and women empowerment.  The programme included an oath-taking ceremony and a signature campaign to reaffirm the community’s collective commitment to the campaign’s objectives.

It was emphasized that the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao initiative, launched a decade ago, continues to focus on protecting, educating and empowering girls through a range of welfare schemes that have positively impacted countless lives.  The event saw active participation from officers of the District Administration, particularly the Social Welfare Department, as well as Anganwadi workers, helpers, supervisors and a large number of citizens. The celebrations concluded with a renewed pledge by all stakeholders to continue working towards the empowerment of the girl child in Pulwama.
