REASI: Under the leadership of Khalil Choudhary, Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Reasi (also Pr. District and Sessions Judge) and the guidance of Pooja Gupta, Secretary DLSA, a series of legal awareness camps were organized here across the District.
Para Legal Volunteers of DLSA and TLSC Mahore held awareness camps at Village Chapano and Front office Mahore, respectively. The programme aimed to sensitize the general public to their rights as consumers and the remedies available under the Consumer Protection Act. The participants were informed about common unfair trade practices, online frauds, misleading advertisements and the procedure for filing complaints before Consumer Commissions.
Another awareness event was held on Prohibition of Dowry at village Dewal - Mahore. The PLVs elaborated the adverse social consequences of the dowry system and highlighted the punishments prescribed under law for giving or taking dowry.
Another awareness programme on “MACT Procedures and Compensation Rights” held at Bus Stand Katra in collaboration with the District and local Traffic Police Katra. The general public, drivers, commuters and other stakeholders were sensitized to Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) procedures and the rights of victims to seek compensation. Adv. Rachni Sharma was the resource person.
