JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir State Taxes Department (STD) today organized a comprehensive training workshop for representatives of Common Service Centers (CSCs) operating across Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts. The initiative aimed at enhancing awareness and strengthening compliance in Goods and Services Tax (GST) procedures.

Chaired by Additional Commissioner Administration and Enforcement Jammu, Namrita Dogra, the participants were sensitized about various aspects of GST, including registration procedures, return filing and overall compliance requirements. Department’s officials also educated CSC operators on different types of fraud that may occur during the registration and return filing processes, emphasizing the need for vigilance and adherence to prescribed norms.

The participants were further apprised of the legal implications and consequences of any wrongdoing under the GST framework, encouraging them to maintain transparency and integrity in their operations.

Addressing the gathering, Additional Commissioner Jammu encouraged CSC representatives to actively engage in the GST domain, describing it as a promising and profitable area of work. However, she stressed the importance of strict compliance with KYC norms and advised against any malpractice, reiterating the department’s commitment to ensuring a fair and accountable tax system.

The workshop also provided a detailed overview of the GST system, covering its processes from inception to its broader benefits for businesses and the economy. An interactive session was held wherein department officials addressed queries raised by participants. The CSC representatives participated enthusiastically, making the session informative and engaging. The State Taxes Department reaffirmed its commitment to capacity building and awareness initiatives aimed at promoting ease of compliance and preventing tax-related fraud in the region.
