SRINAGAR: Social Welfare Department (SWD), SANKALP-HEW Srinagar, organised a sensitisation-cum-training programme for the supervisors of Mission Poshan, District Srinagar, with a focus on identifying out-of-school girls and facilitating their reintegration into the formal education system at Zila Sainik Bhawan Batmaloo Srinagar.
The programme aimed to sensitise and equip the supervisors with the necessary knowledge and strategies to identify girls who have discontinued their education, understand the underlying reasons for school dropout, and facilitate their return to schools through coordinated efforts with the concerned departments, educational institutions, families and community stakeholders.
During the programme, emphasis was laid on the importance of ensuring that every girl has access to education and equal opportunities for learning, personal development and a brighter future. The participants were sensitised about the social, economic and other challenges that often prevent girls from continuing their education, including financial constraints, lack of awareness, family responsibilities and other barriers.
The training session highlighted the crucial role of Mission Poshan supervisors in identifying out-of-school girls at the community level through regular field visits, interaction with Anganwadi Workers, engagement with parents and coordination with local educational institutions. The supervisors were encouraged to maintain proper records of identified girls, assess their individual circumstances and facilitate appropriate interventions to ensure their successful enrolment and continued participation in education.
The Department reiterated its commitment to promoting girls’ education, strengthening community-level interventions and ensuring that vulnerable and disadvantaged girls receive the necessary support to resume and complete their education.
The programme concluded with a call for collective responsibility and coordinated action by field functionaries to identify out-of-school girls, facilitate their reintegration into the education system and contribute towards building an inclusive and equitable society where every girl has the opportunity to learn, grow and realise her full potential.
