JAMMU: The Law School NSS Unit-III, in collaboration with the Coordinator NSS Office, organized an impactful organ donation pledge event aimed at raising awareness about the critical need for organ donation to save lives and improve the quality of life for those suffering from life-threatening illnesses. The sensitization program featured key speakers, including RJ Juhee from BIG FM and Ms. Anshu Sharma from the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (SOTTO).
The program began with a formal introduction by Dr. Mrinalini Atrey, who highlighted the importance of this collaboration for the noble cause of organ donation. RJ Juhee set an engaging tone for the event by involving students in a role-playing exercise that addressed common myths and facts about organ donation. She emphasized that while countries like Spain, the USA, and China have made significant strides in organ donation, India has also achieved notable progress in recent years. Juhee passionately urged participants to pledge that no life in India should be lost due to a shortage of organs.
Anshu Sharma, Consultant (IEC/Media) of SOTTO in J&K, shared valuable insights about the National Organ Transplant Programme under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. She encouraged attendees to actively participate in the organ donation pledge as part of the Ayushman Bhav initiative. Earlier Dr. Seema Rohmetra, Director, The Law School emphasised the importance of public sensitization and the development of a comprehensive support system to motivate individuals toward organ donation.
The program saw enthusiastic participation from over 150 students from The Law School and the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu, and was coordinated by Dr. Monika Bhardwaj (PO, NSS) and Dr. Mrinalini Atrey. The event successfully raised awareness and encouraged a commitment to organ donation among the student community.
