JAMMU: The School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), University of Jammu, organized an industry exposure visit for students of BBA(HM)-Semester III to Skyview by Empyrean, Patnitop, providing them an opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the professional functioning of the hospitality and tourism industry.

The visit enabled the students to observe various functional areas of the organization and interact with industry professionals. The students were accompanied by Dr. Priyanka Sharma and Mr. Tapas Tandon.

The interaction commenced with an address by Mr. Syed Mujtaba Ali Jafri, Vice President—Sales, who shared his experience of the hospitality and tourism business and apprised the students of the practical aspects of the industry and professional responsibilities associated with sales and customer-oriented operations.

The students also interacted with Mr. Madhu Manhas, Assistant Manager—Sales, who explained the functioning of the sales department and its relevance to the hospitality business. He highlighted the importance of effective communication, client interaction and service orientation in the successful functioning of hospitality establishments.

Adding to the learning experience, members of the Guest Relations team, Mr. Rishi and Mr. Rajinder Singh, interacted with the students and briefed them about guest handling and relationship management. The interaction helped the students understand the significance of guest relations in ensuring smooth service delivery and a positive experience for visitors.

The visit was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Suvidha Khanna, Director, SHTM, whose constant encouragement towards industry-oriented learning has facilitated such opportunities for SHTM students. Prof. Anil Gupta also extended his support towards the initiative and encouraged the students to make the most of such industry interactions to gain a broader understanding of professional practices.

The industry exposure visit provided the students with a valuable opportunity to connect their academic learning with the practical functioning of the hospitality sector. Direct interaction with industry professionals enabled them to gain insights into workplace responsibilities, service operations and industry expectations.

SHTM expressed its gratitude to the management and team of Skyview by Empyrean, Patnitop, for facilitating the visit and extending their time and expertise towards enriching the students’ learning experience.
