In loving memory of Dr. Priya Ranjan: A mentor who treated me like family

Palveen KourJAMMU: Palveen Kour, a resident of Srinagar and Postgraduate Biotechnology student at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University in Katra, has received the Young Researcher Award in the Life Science category under the postgraduate category at FARMERS 2026.

The award recognised Palveen’s potential in life sciences. It was presented at the National Conference on Frontiers in Agricultural and Resource Management for Ecological Resilience and Sustainability, held virtually on August 21–22, 2026 and the Award was conferred in September. The conference was organised by BioThink–National Academy of Bio Sciences in collaboration with the School of Agriculture and Natural Sciences at Dolphin (P.G.) Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences, Dehradun, and the Scholics Foundation.

For Palveen, the recognition marks an important milestone in her academic journey. It also shines a light on the growing ambitions of young people from Kashmir who are pursuing scientific research and contributing their ideas to fields that can help address real-world challenges.

Her achievement offers encouragement to students who are beginning their own research journeys. Awards can affirm that your work is moving in a promising direction, but curiosity, patience and steady effort are what carry it forward. Keep asking questions, learn from setbacks, seek guidance from mentors and give your ideas time to develop. Your background does not set a limit on how far your research can reach.

Palveen’s recognition is a proud moment for her and a reminder to aspiring researchers that meaningful progress begins with commitment—and that their contributions belong in the scientific community.
