JAMMU: Ahead of the commencement of the Holistic Orientation Programme on 13th July 2026, the Indian Institute of Management Jammu commenced its comprehensive pre-orientation admission, registration, and onboarding process for the Academic Year 2026–27 on 10th July 2026. The Institute will conduct the onboarding and registration process from 10th to 12th July for the incoming students of the 7th Batch of Ph.D., 11th Batch of MBA, 5th Batch of MBA (Healthcare), and the inaugural Batch of MBA (AI & Business Analytics), marking the commencement of their academic journey at IIM Jammu.

The onboarding and registration process was personally overseen by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, along with Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean, Faculty & Research; Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean, Academics.  Prof. (Brig.) (Retd.) Neeraj Soni, Chairperson, Student Affairs; the Chairpersons of the respective academic programmes; and Shri Arup Bhattacharya, Chief Programme Officer also graced the occasion.

Their active involvement throughout the process reflected the Institute's unwavering commitment to ensuring a smooth, comfortable, and well-coordinated transition for every student and parent. Through their interactions with the incoming cohorts and their families, the leadership reinforced IIM Jammu's student-centric ethos and its commitment to creating a supportive environment from the very first day.

Reflecting this student-first philosophy, the onboarding experience commenced even before students arrived on campus. Dedicated reception and facilitation teams stationed at Jammu Airport and Jammu Railway Station provided transportation, baggage assistance, guidance, and end-to-end support. On campus, centralized help desks, document verification, hostel allocation, and personalized assistance ensured an efficient registration process. Students and their parents were also welcomed with the traditional Indian gesture of tilak (tikka), symbolizing warmth, respect, and hospitality and setting the tone for their journey at the institute.

Adding a memorable dimension to the experience, parents of the incoming students and senior students came together for an informal cultural interaction filled with music, dance, and camaraderie. What began as a casual exchange evolved into an evening of shared laughter and spontaneous performances, fostering meaningful connections and reflecting the inclusive, vibrant, and community-oriented culture that defines IIM Jammu.

A special highlight of the onboarding programme was an interactive session between the parents and the Institute's leadership, led by Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, along with Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean, Academics; Prof. (Brig.) (Retd.) Neeraj Soni, Chairperson, Student Affairs; and Shri Arup Bhattacharya, Chief Programme Officer. The interactive session provided an open platform for dialogue, enabling parents to gain deeper insights into the Institute's academic ecosystem, student support services, experiential learning opportunities, and holistic development initiatives.

The interaction also addressed parents' queries, reinforcing the Institute's commitment to transparency, collaboration, and student well-being. Parents appreciated the meticulously organized onboarding process, the dedicated efforts of the faculty, officers, staff, and senior students, as well as the accessibility of the Institute's leadership. Prof. B. S. Sahay's interaction in Hindi was particularly appreciated by the parents, fostering confidence and strengthening the partnership between the Institute and families. Parents also appreciated Prof. Nitin Upadhyay's, Dean Academics interaction, wherein he addressed them not only as an academic leader but also as a fellow parent, reassuring them of the Institute's unwavering commitment to providing a safe, supportive, and enriching learning environment for their children.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. B. S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, remarked that onboarding is not merely an administrative exercise but the first step in a transformative journey of learning, leadership, and personal growth. Emphasizing the Institute's ethos of "Atithi Devo Bhava," he assured students that IIM Jammu would be a nurturing environment where they would be encouraged to excel academically, innovate confidently, and develop as ethical and globally responsible leaders. Welcoming the new cohorts and their families, Prof. Nitin Upadhyay, Dean, Academics, described the occasion as a significant milestone for the IIM Jammu community. The onboarding and registration programme on 10th July 2026 offered the incoming students and their families a vibrant introduction to campus life through engaging activities coordinated by Bandish, Malhar, and the Student Council under the supervision of the Student Affairs Office and the Institute's student clubs and committees. Interactive stalls at the Jalpan Kendra, student presentations, and club interactions showcased the diverse opportunities available beyond academics, spanning leadership, entrepreneurship, public policy, culture, sports, innovation, and social responsibility. Cultural performances by Bandish and Groove-The Dance Club, along with an engaging session by Artha-The Economics Club, created a lively atmosphere that encouraged the new cohorts to actively participate in the Institute's co-curricular and extracurricular ecosystem from the outset of their journey.

Adding a heartwarming dimension to the experience, parents joined senior students in an informal celebration of music, dance, and camaraderie.
