UDHAMPUR: The three-day District Handball Championship for men and women, organised by District Handball Association Udhampur, concluded at the Mini Stadium Udhampur today. On the final day, MLA Udhampur West, Pawan Kumar Gupta, graced the event as the chief guest, while Narinder Singh, Excise and Taxation Officer for the Udhampur-Reasi Range, served as the guest of honour.
In his address, the chief guest commended the organisers for the successful execution of the championship. He emphasised that hosting such tournaments is a significant step towards providing a platform for the budding talent in the district and fostering a sports culture that contributes to a healthy society. He encouraged participants to engage in sports for their physical and mental well-being. The chief guest also praised the efforts of the District Handball Association and the J&K Handball Association in promoting sports throughout the J&K Union Territory.
Following the speeches, the chief guest distributed prizes to the participants. Among those present were Vikram Slathia, President District Handball Association Udhampur; Dr. Jogeshwar Gupta, District Youth Services and Sports Officer; former President Municipal Council Udhampur; Raj Guru, Sr. Vice President J&K Volleyball Association; Jatinder Vermani, President Beopar Mandal Udhampur; along with numerous sports enthusiasts who witnessed the final match.
