KATRA: In a proud moment for the sports wing of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Mr. Balbir Singh, Sports Coach successfully earned National Certification in Sports Coaching in Kabbadi. He completed the prestigious certificate course in Sports Coaching in Kabbadi conducted at the Sports Authority of India Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NS NIS) Southern Centre, Bengaluru. The course saw participation of the selected sports coaches from almost all the states and union territories of India.
The certification programme was conducted under the Mass Sports Participation Programme initiated by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). Mr. Singh successfully completed the course and demonstrated commendable technical proficiency and tactical understanding of the sport. Mr. Singh expressed his gratitude to the university especially Vice-chancellor, Prof. Pragati Kumar for providing the opportunity to participate in the programme.
Vice-Chancellor noted that such certifications by staff members enhance the university's capacity to train students in traditional sports like Kabaddi, aligning with the university's mission to promote holistic development through the "Vocal for Local" and "Fit India" initiatives.
